The soil pipe bend (where it goes into the sewer) from my toilet has been leaking and seeping under the kitchen floor, rotting it obviously over a long time. Buried in concrete in a corner in the garage so opted for a patch reline which so far has worked.

But he didn't dry it first just used a fast setting cure and it was ready in an hour!! He did show me via the camera. Looked good. And fully cured in 24 hours but no restrictions on using the toilet.

My question is is that an ok method? Everything I read says they dry it first. And it did cost £570!! Easy access from the manhole, 1 hour's work. Just been done.

The carpenter is charging £750 for a very small kitchen floor but that's actual work and skill.

You are not paying for his time, you are paying for his experience and knowledge in how to do it! Then the equipment and materials required.

Patching is very easy to get wrong if you don't know what you are doing, getting the patch in is the easy bit, getting it back out when it's gone awry or the Packer is stuck, is a completely different ballgame.

I presume there was some sort of Guarantee supplied with the work?

He's not a medical professional! A dentist is cheaper. Too much but never mind. Done. I was more interested if anybody could say something about that method. Not saying its wrong just can't find similar online.
