Hi all,

I have several of these TRVs on rads throughout the house, but one has become really damaged and is no good any more. I've taken it off (unscrewing the collar underneath etc) but do not have the decorator's cap/dust cap/manual closing cap to close it up properly.
I've tried a few places today inc Wickes etc, but no luck in finding one - I know they normally come with the TRV. Any ideas on where to get them, or if not, how else to fully close the valve? I haven't run the CH since - and it's kind of chilly just now ;). All I have looking at me now is the exposed head with the pin.
Any ideas much appreciated. Will be hitting a couple of plumber's merchants tomorrow to continue the search...

If you just want to shut the rad off to stop it heating shut it off using the lockshield valve. make sure you count how many turns to shut it off to maintain the balance of the system.

if you want to remove the rad and need to blank the valve you need a 1/2" FI (Female Iron) brass blank cap, disconnect the valve where the valve meets the tail going into the rad and fit the cap on the valve, any plumbers merchants or B&Q will have them

OK, thanks for the replies guys. I've got the system running just now and that rad is blasting away fully (obviously with no thermostat to regulate it), so as it it very rarely used I'll shut it off via the lockshield tomorrow.

Thanks again.
