Drayton Wiser 3 Zone System Installation

Hi,

Sorry to resurrect this thread - just wondering if someone could advise. Similar setup to the original poster, but I’ve replaced a Danfoss 5000 with a Wiser 2-channel setup. This has been fine in summer, handling hot water, but there are two motorised valves for the heating. One of them is controlled by a Danfoss 9000 in one bedroom, and I want to change the wiring in the WB12 to “combine” this valve with the other heating valve. All rooms have Wiser TRVs, so I can turn them off individually and create my own zones.

I know it’s not ideal, but I have absolutely no need for one bedroom to be on its own valve/zone. My plan:
  1. Confirm which wires in the WB12 control the Danfoss 9000. Disconnect and make safe.
  2. Confirm which wires control the associated valve, then move these in the WB12 and plug into the other heating valve’s wiring.
Is that correct, safe and doable?

Many thanks

Will

It's always best to start your own thread - posts like this may get lost in the ether.

Yes, that sounds about right - if you would like to post some pictures of your setup and the wiring within the WB12, we may be able to help you identify the connections you need to make.

Thanks. Didn’t want to start a new one and be told “there’s already someone basically doing the same in this thread”!

I’ve determined the zone, it’s the yellow valve. The red is the other/main heating valve. This has I think 4 wires, so is it a case of me plugging all 4 wires (based on their colours) into the same slots as the wires for the red valve? The box is a mess…

thanks

Will

Sorry, I haven't got time to look at it now, but you should only need to move the brown wire. Check that the orange, grey, and blue wires are going to the same terminals anyway.
I think that should leave the existing Danfoss cabling redundant.

Great, thanks a lot. I’ll look for the brown - absolute mess in there so extremely hard to find it.

Spliced it with a connector as it was too short. All working fine. Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
