That reminds me, you need a drill vice to go with it. Some are very small.
The drill vice in the above photo, looks identical to the one supplied with the cheap drill mentioned above.

I must have some kind of dementia - I can't remember what my wife said to me 5 minutes ago but I clearly remember buying that hand vice on Oldham market in 1994 for £7! I even remember the bloke selling it had a beard.
Makes you think...I've had this one about 20 years. Forgot what I paid for it. 16 speed and you change the speed by swapping the fan belt on the motor part up top but I think it’s still set on whatever it was when I bought it. I've probably only used it 20 times since I’ve had it but it’s come in bloody handy when I have. Only a Sealey so not exactly quality but does the job when needed.

Edit: Bloody hell - just looked on eBay and theres a new one on there just short of £500!

By flutter do you mean where you lower the drill down and the chuck tends to wander a tad? Or something else?Wouldn't bother with a drill press stand and don't go for new cheapies- if mine (b & q own brand about 15 years ago) is typical you get flutter on the chuck so precise drilling is harder work than it should be.
Yeah that exactlyThe OP's
