Dripping Sound Above Bathroom Ceiling

Where the plug goes is what I call the chrome bath waste.

Ok, that's what I thought, thanks for confirming.

Would you say the chap was right to tighten the centre screw, he did run some water for 5 mins after doing so and no water seemed to be escaping as a leak.

I take it that centre screw is there for a reason for when it gets loose and leaks appear, and by giving it a tighten hopefully will stop any future leaks.

I have read that when a bath is installed a little silicon should be applied underneath the waste filter, but unfortunately I don't know if this was done at the time, but if they installed it correctly you would think they would have taken all measures to fit it correctly.
