Is it possible to fit a dry verge to a roof where rosemary tiles are nailed directly to sarking boards, without battens? I'm in Scotland. 1960's bungalow. Mortar from wet verge was noted to have disintegrated and recommended to fix. Recommended local roofers installed a 'dry verge' of sorts. I'm not a tradesperson so didn't note anything untoward until a surveyor was visiting regarding a different issue and it seems all they did was screw a verge externally over the tiles covering the gable end, thus potentially creating issues with water ingress under the plastic. I've since had a quote from a separate company to fit a dry verge. I told them no battens. My cursory investigations indicate its not possible to fit without battens. Can someone clarify please before I go back to the company.
