Perhaps you could qualify this statement;- reliability? build quality? spares/ service issues? or some other reason?

Heatline, easicom, glowworm energy. All the same boiler.
Front display, buttons are slightly different, but internals all the same. Warranty options are different costs too.
System boilers are very light, I've fitted an easicom and an energy this week. Mainly due to site conditions. Not my first choice of boiler. Too many buttons to push to get into parameters and diagnostics. Stupid status codes like vaillant.
Plus side. Gas valve and consensate pipe can be tucked up out of the way.
Other than that it's a white box that makes water hot

O.K., I'm going to try again - I need to replace the system boiler in the old house I bought last year due to poor hot water delivery (I won't go into the reasons), and have decided to bite the bullet and get a combi even though its really outside my planned budget. I'm looking at the Glow worm Easicom mainly due to cost ( I know you only get what you pay for, but will I regret it?). Is it likely to pack up after 5 years/ cost a fortune to maintain? or on balance be as good as anything else which might cost a lot more,Thanks.

The reasons for poor hot water delivery are important and combi boilers are not the fit all answer. You may find the limited flow of hot water from the best of combi boilers is less than you have now.
Most modern boilers are OK & the golden rule is don't get some moron to fit it, any tozpot can fit a boiler, but have they cleaned the system correctly, have they fitted the correct size gas pipe, have they considered the system design & suitability? Have they installed the boiler correctly, have they fitted the flue correctly, have they commissioned the boiler correctly?
Have you considered retaining your HW system & replacing thevsystem boiler with a combi?

For most modern homes with average hot water demand a >40KW Combi will be more than adaquit. Drivel as always BG.
They are sold as budget boilers!
When you buy a budget boiler, you get a budget boiler!
A good budget boiler is the Biasi M269.
But all boilers need to be fitted on a clean system, thats the biggest cause of boiler problems!
I charge the same for fitting a top of the range boiler as for a budget one as there is the same amount of work.
But those who buy budget boilers expect to pay budget installation charges and so end up with their budget boiler fitted to a dirty system with no installer warranty.

Couple of points Tony, don't you think you ought to point out you were linked to Biasi at one point, for disclosure I mean?
Secondly good manufacturers will still try to fulfill the warranty on a poor install which they all come across, the one I work for certainly does.
There's a popular misconception about good value boilers; due to warranties etc, no manufacturer makes a bad boiler. Most, if not all, boiler manufacturers 'screwdriver' together a boiler with components from various manufacturers. The boiler will have pros & cons.
