To give one example , the war of attrition the IRA have been fighting for several decades to rid Irish soil of meddling foreigners.

Guess the money to be made from drug running extortion and fear are right reasons in some peoples eyes but preferred a better example

I say pull the troops out and **** nuke the place. Problem solved; simples.
Why nuke them? The only thing I would condone is chemical warfare of every opium field in the whole country (on the quiet of course, don't want the liberals knowing about it).
It is impossible to wage war on an invisible enemy, who can travel silently from country to country. Its like punching shadows.
Only a heavily conditioned idiot would believe we are fighting a just war.
Pull out.

DESTROY THE POPPIES FIRST!!

DESTROY THE POPPIES FIRST

Wiki wrote.

Afghanistan briefly witnessed one of the world's most successful anti-drug campaigns when Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar declared that growing poppies is un-Islamic. Some historians say the Taliban allege cynically cut production to increase the values of their own stockpiles, although never verified, the effect in the fields was dramatic: a year's crop was almost entirely wiped out and production was down to zero.[11]

As a result of this July 2001 ban, opium poppy cultivation was reduced by 91% from the previous year's estimate of 82,172 hectares. The ban was so effective that Helmand Province, which had accounted for more than half of this area, recorded no poppy cultivation during the 2001 season.[12]

cost shouldnt come into it when there are lives being lost, Just wondering how many afghans are killed in a day?

I meant the cost in terms of life dim west. The battle of Okinawa had a casualty figure almost as high as the detonation of bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To invade and end the war in japan could have easily doubled those figures. Not to mention give the Japanese a chance to deploy the biological and chemical agents they had been developing and testing.

The Americans did it twice in Japan, the biggest crime against humanity ever.

the japs deserved it after pearl harbour; they given the choice would've nuked us and the usa.

War is war.
