Current hot cylinder is copper, clad in green insulating foam with an insulation jacket over top. I'll change the times on it so it comes on 1am-7am abs see if that makes a difference to amount of hw available.

What is the thermostat in the immersion heater set at, for temperature?

the wife doesn't like the immersion heater/tank idea as she runs out of hot water showering/washing her hair.

Is your wife name Rapunzel?

Just a thought - its a 190L cylinder, but I wonder if the 3Kw immersion heater might be too short for the cylinder and only heating the upper levels of water?

but if the OP intends adding the 9Kw unit to the off peak

This is a CH and HW boiler,that is installed same way as a gas heat only boiler, it is not suitable for use with storage heaters only wet central heating

I think the stat is set to 65°.

The immersion runs down about 2/3 depth of cylinder.

Yes, I am already aware of that.

Then if all is as it should be, that should work well.
