Electric Convector Heater - Heat settings -Thermostat

I have two 2000w free standing electric heaters, one in living, other in bedroom.

Despite having a built in rotary control to adjust heat settings, described as a thermostat, I’ve only recently noticed that the heat settings, have no bearing to the room temperature reached ?

I normally select heat setting 3, believing that once the temperature reached, the heater switches off and remains off, until the room temperature drops, and then, the heater will automatically switch back on, until desired temperature of the room, associated with heat settings 3, is reached !

Although, the heaters “thermostat,” appears to operate like a timer, rather than responding to room temperature.

I assume, the heater producing heat, every few minutes, then switching off for 5 mins, then on again, continuously, regardless of room temperature, is far more expensive, than remaining off until the room temperature has dropped below a specific level.

Both heaters are operating the same; also I’m curious as to whether this is normal operation for this type of heater, especially when described as a “thermostat” heat settings/control.

They are cheap for a reason. I think you are expecting them to be a bit too sophisticated. Do they ever heat the rooms to a comfortable temperature.

I’m only expecting the description of product, such “Adjustable thermostat control with easy-to-use dial, which was similar in description to my heaters when bought, which I bought, rather than the less expensive model. that didn’t have thermostat control;

My heaters was significantly more expensive when bought.

Absolutely normal, you could use a plug thermostat or some other controls if you need something more sophisticated.

Yeah, I was thinking of using a plug in thermostats, although one would expect a plug in thermostat to detect the room temperature and isolate power to heater when the actual and desired room temperature is reached !
