Electric Shower Cold in Morning

Hi All!

So I am now home, and guess what, the shower still won't heat up :) (it is still bitterly cold outside!)

I did a flow test. 10seconds. Measuring Jug. I got ~180mil out of it. Which do me makes over 1l/min.

According to the manual (http://www.partsarena.co.uk/baxi/System/DATA/Dx/DS1/installation/2921/i48-2921/i48-2921.htm) the minimum figures are running pressures with at least 5 l/min flowing.... (to me that seems too high!?)

I do have a valve behind it, I was tempted to try turning it a little but I don't want to end up causing damage.

5 litres per minute is not much at at all really. My cold taps have a flow rate of about 25 litres per minute. My shower has only an isolation valve inline and its wide open. With that kind of flow rate that you have i would expect the shower to be boiling hot.

Well at least I *think* I know the reason now!

All other taps are working fine in the house.

I think I will give the shower head a big clean to make sure its not that (limescale!), and if its not I guess plumber :)

Thanks All

Soak the shower head in some Kill Rock, always best to do that every now and then as they do get blocked.

How did you come to 1 l/min ?
What did you have the dials set to to come to that result ?

The dial was set to the highest flow I could get.

To get just over 1l/min, I got 180mil in 10seconds... so timesed that by 6 to give 1080mil/min, just over 1l/min.

So you had it on the cold setting and shower head removed.

Yes but the head didn't make a difference (I cleaned it out from above and tested again without the head but no difference).
