Seeking some expert advice.

We have a glow worm boiler - fairly new (3 years old). Last couple of months we notice a electrical humming coming from the main switch board - I think its when the the heating comes on.

If you switch the boiler off from the switchboard the noise stops.

Ive replaced the MCB board in the boiler position - in case the old one was faulty. The problem is persisting, sporadically.

Is this dangerous? what could it be?

Weirdly, we recently had two new larger rads put in the kitchen - as we had a new kitchen fitted. I cant be sure that the timings of when this electrical hum started coincides. Worried that this is the prelude of a serious problem and could become a dangerous electrical fault. Probably not, but I am clueless. Mentioned to the kitchen fitter (who brought in plumbers to fit the rad) he said try the MCB board change. Hes a lovely bloke but seems doesnt want to take responsibility as he did the kitchen not our electrics. I think this could be a boiler problem - but thats a complete guess

Video of sound here:
(sounds particularly loud on this vid)

Could anyone help?

I suggest you do NOT let a kitchen fitter anywhere near your consumer unit, they are famous for being the utmost bodgers!

Get a qualified electrician with experience of fault finding round.

Keep your kitchen fitter, well away from the electrics. Most likely the humming noise, is vibration, transmitted via pipework, nothing to do with your MCB, etc.. Check the rad and pipework are adequately fixed.

You need to be sure where the humming is coming from. When you say main switch board you are refering to the consumer unit right?

Have you got any electrical ovens, showers or anything else that demands a lot of power?

Turn these on and see if you hear the noise, if you do then it might be something worth looking at.

Have you had any other work carried out, eg a new thermostat? As mentioned above, are you sure it’s the boiler? Have a listen at the boiler. Maybe turn the boilers power off at the spur when making the noise, could be coincidence.
