End of Diesel in construction in sight?

Where I work they have not even converted to Diesel yet, it is mostly coal powered, I know some heritage railways did convert to oil fired boilers, however the oil was expensive, the idea was to stop fires, coal and wood tends to cause sparks, but oil is far safer.

Whatever happened to the Biofuel scheme?
The one where they collected old frying oil from chippy's etc and converted it into a new fuel.

If plant is all electric, on a site in the sticks with no power, how do they charge them up?
How often does that really happen? It might be that the first step in new building work will be whatever grid connections that will be needed for the final building.

I think the entire supply of fuel from chip pans was enough to supply about three vehicles. It worked but it was never going to supply a meaningful percentage.
