Engineered oak floor planks crowning

You use wedges at the perimeter for this.

No its supposed to be floating

Confused as solid Oak is that - solid and engineered Oak is not solid - it has a ply backing and a top layer of oak.

That is how an engineered oak floor is supposed to be done.

And I would second the "check all of the gaps all around.

OK this bit

Could it be that the whole floor has expanded and pushed itself away from this screwed down point and so now it is touching at other places that previously you left gaps at.
What you say , sets my mind at rest.
I agree ...yes...it's just a case of the floor has expanded due to normal conditions .
Because NOT One area was open for 'Point 2 point contact' with any bare concrete.
The rolls of underlay were all layed really recently.
Thanks yeh....appreciate your efforts

Use a decent click lock system on underlay with expansion gap. No need for gluing and tne problems it brings. How does screwing down the boards relieve stress, it creates the conditions for it.
I appreciate your comment regarding what WE both would recommend as a "Best Practice"...
... although many times, it's Outa my hands.
The customer has been filled with crap from B&Q. I actually went to B&Q because I needed to understand what the heck he was recommending
I've already told a yarn about my chat at B&Q, in a earlier message.
I knew exactly what was needed & what I wanted, but I really wanted to see what crap he was saying
And more importantly, I needed "My CUSTARD" to hear everything.
I knew the job was screwed & this was my "Get Outa Jail Card"

..." All you need is the foil backed underlay & lay the boards, leaving a expansion gap"
I said ohh really...& I laid 5 or 6 boards on the floor and I stood on them..
Obviously they all moved & pulled apart.
He then admitted he has never seen or done work himself & he has no clue
They were HIS WORDS FFS
The CUSTARD said " I'm NOT buying anything else, we were told bla bla"
So my script was that I wanted either engineered wood glue, to screed the entire floor, similar to fitting Parquet flooring or I wudda been happier with that Underlay that's Claggy & has a "peel off" protective film
It really holds the floor & then glue the planks tongues much better than the Dog Dirt way he was told to do..
No nice click n lock for me nope I get planks of 6 lengths that have tongues, designed in the FACK'IN 1800's.
Jeez bro, what a load of ****e

Solid wood can’t be floated.

If the client insists on using a product that you believe to be unsuitable, then you walk away, simply as.
Exactly.
My plumber friend went through some stressful times when he agreed to fit a tap from unknown source.
One of the tails exploded and hot water flooded the house for 8 hours while owners were at work.
His insurance was adamant that because he hadn't provided the tap they weren't to be involved.
Eventually all was resolved, but he was very worried about having to pay the gigantic repair bill which I think it was over £80k iirc.
If customers provide the material, make sure you make them sign a disclaimer.

We had 100 square meters of floating oak floor using Junckers clip system in the office .?

Commercial grade clip system floor a very different system to what most people will have access to to install in a domestic property, to be more specific, Tongue and Groove Solid oak shouldn’t be floated if that helps clarify things.

Have used solid oak with self adhesive foam underlay without issue .
