Use a decent click lock system on underlay with expansion gap. No need for gluing and tne problems it brings. How does screwing down the boards relieve stress, it creates the conditions for it.
I appreciate your comment regarding what WE both would recommend as a "Best Practice"...
... although many times, it's Outa my hands.
The customer has been filled with crap from B&Q. I actually went to B&Q because I needed to understand what the heck he was recommending
I've already told a yarn about my chat at B&Q, in a earlier message.
I knew exactly what was needed & what I wanted, but I really wanted to see what crap he was saying
And more importantly, I needed "My CUSTARD" to hear everything.
I knew the job was screwed & this was my "Get Outa Jail Card"
B&Q dude said...
..." All you need is the foil backed underlay & lay the boards, leaving a expansion gap"
I said ohh really...& I laid 5 or 6 boards on the floor and I stood on them..
Obviously they all moved & pulled apart.
He then admitted he has never seen or done work himself & he has no clue
They were HIS WORDS FFS
The CUSTARD said " I'm NOT buying anything else, we were told bla bla"
So my script was that I wanted either engineered wood glue, to screed the entire floor, similar to fitting Parquet flooring or I wudda been happier with that Underlay that's Claggy & has a "peel off" protective film
It really holds the floor & then glue the planks tongues much better than the Dog Dirt way he was told to do..
No nice click n lock for me nope I get planks of 6 lengths that have tongues, designed in the FACK'IN 1800's.
Jeez bro, what a load of ****e
