Hi, I am moving an electrical wall socket to another wall and need to extend the existing cable. Is it safe to to add an additional lenghth of cable to the existing using a 30amp plastic terminal strip? And what type of wire?

Here are some options :

Isolate the power first

1) Pull the cable(s) down under the floor boards and joint using a 30Amp junction box and wire to new position.

2) Leave the cable(s) where it/they is/are and joint using the 30Amp connector blocks or crimps(preferred), but this must be left accessible (blank plate to be used) and wire to new position

3) Locate were the cable(s) are fed from and rewire to new position.

Use 2.5mm Twin & Earth Cable.

Agree with all those options but suggest option 3 is the best idea if at all possible, that way you've got no unnecessary joints.
