Extractor Fan and light issues!

Im going to opt for your diagram 2 - it makes more sense. Surely though, the way I have it wired currently would still be sending power to the extract, and therefore should work regardless of whether an isolator is present??

I have just remembered one very good reason for having an isolator to the fan. Condensation soaking the fan and the need to isolate the fan for safety while still having the lights working.

I assume supply is from the consumer unit/fuseboard......

If this is all brand new, why are you having to assume anything? Why don't you know?

Are you sure you're competent to carry out electrical installation work?

I should have tested it properly first.

You should also have carried out continuity, insulation resistance and fault loop impedance tests - did you do those?

When you applied for Building Regulations approval what did you way would be the way you'd comply with P1?

OK TT - in a way which is rational, intelligent. coherently argued and shows that you know what you're talking about please explain:

1) How doing circuit design and installation work on the basis of assumptions about what existing cables do is sound practice.

2) How thinking that not connecting an appliance's live terminal to anything and asking for diagrams when already in possession of them indicate any degree of competence.

3) Why proper testing should be of no concern.

4) Why we don't need to establish if the OP has committed to having the electrical work done by a registered electrician anyway.
