Hi all,

I've been trying to sort out wiring for extractor hood, but isn't working currently.
I've put a double pole isolation switch spurred onto a double socket in the ring (shown below), which connects the twin cable that goes to the hood.
When on there's power in the double socket, but the hood doesn't do anything; no light and no fan.

I'm pretty sure there's power in the hood, as the live wire detector goes off around it, but it does that whether or not the switch is on or off....

Am I wiring the switch incorrectly?

Doubtless but I can't see.

Turn them both towards the camera and use flash or a good light.

There are letters by the terminals, embossed on the black block

Have you got a better testing devices such as a two pole voltage tester?

but it does that whether or not the switch is on or off....
That is the reason why you don't rely on these. The chances of you wiring that switch incorrectly is very low have you checked the fuse? Does the neon light turn on at the switch?

The smaller Brown is in 'L OUT' and the smaller Blue is in 'N OUT' so it would appear to be wired correctly.

Is the fuse good?
