How do they work at the [ad end?

My front pads were replaced a short while ago, the connector keeps going dodgy and the light comes on.
I dont need the indicator as I do a visual check.

So how does it work? is it a short in the pad that gets worn open ?
I'm thinking of just shorting out the socket as if I dont have wear indicators in the pads.

Yep, there's a conductive copper core attached to the pad wire.....as it wears to the extent where the core touches the disc, the lamp comes on (usually!)
On most vehicles, you can disconnect it without any issues - Skoda included.
I did do this with some pattern pads on a Merc a while ago - it didn't like it and flashed up a brake warning on the dash.
John:)

Hmm, I have the dash light on - it has been on before just after the pads were fitted a few months back.
So if it lights due to the core touching the disc then its a short circuit to gnd thats enabling it - Ill see if I can get under at some point to disconnect it - cheers.
