Yes it's future tense but who can predict the future? Who can predict when Mr Dyson might pass away and who can predict what the tax regime might be at that time? Impossible to know if he will pay more tax as a result of this policy, I would say.

Yes but he also saw it as a tax avoidance measure and bought in a film crew to get back to his usual role and make money from that as well. He says he wanted a shoot as well. 1,000 acres is a rather large shoot. His farm is in a trust so as he sees it the 7 year rule is taken care of.

You don’t seem to realise that people like Dyson investing in farms to avoid tax is making farm land very expensive….resulting in farming being very expensive.

Hum, lots of his farms are tenanted, meaning people who can’t afford to buy farms can actually be productive farmers, earning a living and paying taxes

Getting this back onto constructive ground, farmland and woodland near us was recently bought as a block and within 3 months sold off in strips , each for about £40k.

My suspicion is that people bought this land to avoid IHT
