Faulty wiring at electric cooker switch?

OK, seriously now, all I've done is replace a few sockets and lights cords - the kitchen cooker I thought was ok, but no. So I'll get in a pro. What's the average rate these days? Don't fancy paying anybody £60+ an hour, that's more the the PM - especially when there's no guarantee they're not crook in their work. No wonder all all these handy men are rich. Any websites to visit for recommendations/feedback from customers?

Best recommendations are from friends and colleagues. Some local councils will list approved tradesmen on their websites. But failing that, grab your yellow pages or local newspaper. Get three quotes and ask them what they are quoting for so you can compare like for like.

Oh, and we're not all rich. Far from it. Anybody charging less than £25 per hour is probably working cash in hand to make ends meet, or else they're doing it part time.
