A victim surcharge of £541. He didn't hit anyone..

That was for 78mph on a motorway with a 40 limit 6pts. Seems heavy in the circumstances. Those motorway cameras are often in dope mode.
I think I'll collect dashcam shots of empty motorways showing 40mph, in case.

Couple of years ago I was done for 93 in a 70 on an empty dcway, I think it was £90. 3pts. Category "S30" iirc, which looks like it's changed.
Nobody asked what I earned.

Apparently the fine limit is £1k on a normal road and £2500 on a motorway - which seems daft.

Only got caught once in a speed trap.
They changed the speed limit from 50 to 40 and the coppers were raking it in.
Used to drive down that road every day so I didn't pay attention to the new sign.
The bastards were laughing at people and patronising us for going "over the limit".
This is a dual carriageway with fields either sides.
Speed trap at its finest.
Whenever it's sunny you're guaranteed to be clocked by the hiding copper behind a tree and their car parked on a layby behind a lorry.

The camera vans in our county now have no livery on them at all to identify them and painted grey.
But apart from motorway all fixed cameras are turned off and have been for years

The limit around town in Bristol is 20 - down from 30 a few years ago. At first many people stuck to it and it became tedious being stuck behind them in 3rd gear. Gradually people got fed up with it and most started to drive at 30 again. It's quite rare to be behind a 20 mph dawdler these days.
