Our rotting fence panel has given way in the wind. Thought I could just buy another 6' panel and replace, but measuring the existing panel is 71 1/4". The gap between posts is 71 3/4" (approx, but definitely just short of 72" which would be 6').

Can I source slightly under size posts somewhere?

What is the gap between the posts? Might just need to pop round the local outlets and choose a panel that fits. Fence panels aren't precision built they'll have a tolerance of half an inch or something.

If you can’t find a panel that fits, it’s reasonably easy for a diy person to trim an edge off.
Or
My local fence business makes the panels on site so one near you might make a smaller one as a custom job

i suspect they are all six foot give or take a 1/4 inch the rest will just be sloppy conversion so dont assume you can get a 1.8m as it will probably be six foot

just looked at the forest link above
Available in 4 heights - 6ft (1.80m), 5ft (1.50m), 4ft (1.20m) and 3ft (0.90m).

You can use fence panel clips to take up any slack space:
