I have an issue with a fence post and gate up against next doors garage and a chopped out retaining wall. I'm stumped how to make this sorry mess remotely respectable. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.
Clean the whole area. Remove loose material.
You could make a timber shutter and mix some mortar so you could extend the existing wall skirt to the post.
This assumes that the gate opens inwards.
If the gate opens out, and needs that gap to open, you could tidy it up with an angle grinder and cutting disc.
If the skirt belongs to the neighbour, explain the issue and offer to make it look better.
Thanks for replies.the gate does open out into the space on the picture. Appearance wise I was thinking to chop out a strip in front of the gate and fill the hole and the with gravel. Maybe a potted plant in the space. Open to ideas.
