The Modena is a name carried over from the older trash they made. Not a good idea to continue the name of a dog.

it is discontinued https://www.ferroli.com/en/products/discontinued-products/modena-he/

ferroli is generally branded components inside, they have wilo pumps, honeywell gas valves and the electronics are made by honeywell, the fans are also honeywell, this leaves only the heat exchanger and body and design of how it all comes together.

i believe it was the design and the sub standard sealing arrangement used in the original modena and domi condense boilers which caused the poor reputation, this coupled with selling the cheap meaning most were installed by monkey's for people wishing to pay only peanuts. This was literally the perfect storm to ruin a company and its reputation in the uk boiler market.

anyway back to the OP's question, the above is the best middle of the road boilers. Personally i have gone intergas in my house, and most on this forum will say intergas. i gave the other options so as we are not completely intergas fan boy bias.

bosh, vaillant, veissmann, ideal are all too expensive imo compared to what else is available and not that well built.

my parents and brother both have Ideal Logic boilers and i'm not that impressed, the DHW is pretty poor and they dont look as well built as say the intergas

Correct. Only three top quality boilers: Intergas, ATAG and Navien with Viessmann trailing (their flexible pipes in the boilers were a disgrace).

I am surprised Ferroli discontinued the new Modena in the UK. It is a very good boiler. Like Intergas only 4 moving parts with quality third party components. A 16 litre/min job as well.

Navien make a ~54kW multi point water heaters that delivers 25 litres/min. One of these with a small system boiler for CH must be highly attractive, saving a lot of space compared to a cylinder. A flow switch in the cold feed to the multi-point would be needed to switch out the CH boiler to keep the gas consumption within 6 cu litres/min.

25 litres per min delivers 375 litres of hot water in 15 mins. 750 in half an hour. That saves a lot of huge cylinder space, weight and cost.

Using the ~42kW multi-point delivering 18 litres/min with a small CH system boiler, then a flow switch is not needed. I find it amazing that people do not go for this route, fitting those awful dripping unvented cylinders.

I mentioned the Ferroli Modena and its attributes on this thread giving some vids. Unfortunately a lot of the lunatics invaded the thread.
