I need to tidy this up and wondering what filler I should use. I have some this in the shed:

I will give it a bathroom paint coating once done.

I would welcome your opinions on this.

The fan is in the process of being replaced with a new in-line fan.
Yes the paint is flaking. I will remove the edges and will then need to fill, sand, to get a smooth surface to paint on. Else, the indents will show through once painted?

Well the Toupret will be fine anyway, obviously remove all mould beforehand. I removed some awful black mould the other day, after a bit of searching here and elsewhere on the web for which one was the best to use about I used Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover which did a great job.

Won’t toupret be penetrated by the moisture and disintegrate? Or does the paint coating protect it from that?

If you use Toupret TX110, the moisture will not make it soft.

It might be prudent to paint the ceiling with waterbased eggshell rather than emulsion.

I just see Toupret on my pack. Not TX110?
Would it help to use pva on the filler before I paint?

If that is the filler that you have, then use it. There is a risk that it will become soft if it subjected to excessive moisture. If you do go for waterbased eggshell it will protect the filler from steam.

PVA over anything that will be painted is inadvisable.
