Hi all,

Drilling into a masonary wall the area crumbled.
Images included.
The wall plug buried within. (easily removed). The opening is now too deep also.
The area is approx 2cm x 2cm.

Has anyone a recommendaiton for the correct filler to use so I can refill & redrill the same spot.

Also - any tips on process, eg. layer it or fill it all on one go.

thanks in advance.

It might be easier to use another wall plug or other packing in that existing hole and then just deal with filling in the hole at the face rather than filling the whole lot and re-drilling. If you filled in the hole does it have to go in exactly the same place? What are you trying to fix to the wall, what size is the plug, how big is the hole etc?

What size hole should it be?

Is the wall gypsum skin over a victorian base coat?

the hole I need is 8mm. the wall is concrete (painted) - that appears to be it. Im not familiar with surfaces beyond basics. There may be a thin plaster there.

Mortar sounds like a good option in terms of solid fill for the redrill, I will look into that.

If you do use mortar, don't redrill too soon. Give it a few days to harden fully. At least a week if it's 2 cm deep.
