Hi guys,

as part of my application to the council for my Permited Development, I have put a proposal in to install a wired fire alarm system.

Now I know nothing about them and have been looking at afew.

I am just confused alittle about them, I will have 3 floors,
Ground Floor - With a Kitchen.
First Floor - Bedrooms
Second Floor - Bedrooms.

The question I have 3 Floors, does that mean I need 3 Zones?
Or do I need a Zone for each room?

I'm surprised council are letting it out out non bafe, as you've said you dont have a clue.......Remember you could be liable if the flats go up in smoke and the system isnt adequately designed.

Ive only just applied for PD. Ive not heard from the council yet.

I have an open plan hall downstairs and didnt want to loose this, so It was my idea to propse the instalation of a wired/wireless fire alarm system in my house!

rather then get someone to do it and I love getting dirty with DIY, I posed the question.

Just wanted to get ready and read up about them!

Ok this alarm is for your own house?

Not for a HMO or Communal areas in a block of flats or anything.

Thats what I am assuming now as at first it wasnt too clear.

And what you are probably after are detectors installed to comply with part B of building regulations.

With the information you have provided (too limited) I would suggest you will be requiring a LD2 Grade D system.

If you are unsure of the requirements for that I would suggest you get someone in who can satisfy the requirements of building control with regards to your fire safety system.

LD2 Grade B

Your suggesting saving money, not lives.

I Know your not aware of the building/circumstances, so the higher grade should be applied.

where can i see the diffrences between the LD2 Grade B and LD2 Grade D ?

thanks

My plan was to have a smoke detector in every room and hall way with them being backup battery based.

What type of battery back up?
At the detectors or in a control panel?

Is this a private abode or a HMO (Rented).
There are differences and vast differences in costs. Rules and regulations.

As someone has mentioned, more details, more details.
