Fitting a brass pendant light where existing standard one

I have just taken a photo of the other ceiling rose in the room that still has the existing light attached.

This one appears slightly different though in that there are now 3 main cables coming down from the ceiling.

Here is what I propose to do with the first of the 2 lights

Looks OK to me, maybe twist both the flexible earth wires together and put them into one side, solid strand into the other.

Thanks for all the great help on this job. The lights are now both up and working absolutely fine.

Unfortunately however my partner came home and has decided she does not like the lights now so it looks like they are coming down again - pfff!!

Anyway it has been a great learning experience and will no doubt be useful for whatever lights she brings home tomorrow
