Fitting hive to old Baxi combi boiler with mechanical timer

I’ve just bought my first place and it has an old ,but working-fine Baxi 80 boiler.

It just has a round mechanical timer. No external controls.

If I wanted to fit a hive to it do I just unplug the connections from the timer and wire the timer wires like this to the hive receiver.

brown to L
Blue to N
And the black to 1 & 3 on a single channel hive?

Then no need to remove links in the choc block or wire into it?

Many thanks. Unfortunately after unboxing my “combi” hive, inside is a dual channel.

I don’t suppose you know the equivalent wiring to the dual receiver?
It was purchased as an “open box” so I got quite a hefty discount and could live with a redundant water button.

Could you elaborate please?
The boiler manual ( page 21) says the external controls must be 230v switching and I thought the hive is?

Ive got it working!

Followed the top right diagram here :

only caveat is I have to set the built-in mechanical timer to perm on. But I think that is normal.

Either disconnect timer fully or set to permanently on. Piggy back live and Neutral from boiler supply, remove yellow link wire and wire number 4 on Hive to the number 2 of that switch link.

Thanks yes that’s how I figured it out in the end.

if I unplug the built in timer, the heating doesn’t come on so I’ve left it in, with it set to permanent on. Would be nice to fully disable the timer though.

if you want to disable the timer you will have to link the switch wires from the timer
