Fitting new toilet

Coming to the end of the bathroom refit but need some advice about the new WC. Existing soil pipe comes out of wall, it is a steel soil pipe with the end of the pipe bell shaped where the old WC was pushed in and puttied up.
I propose using an angle grinder to shorten pipe so that WC will sit against the wall. Problem is the new WC outlet is 1 inch below soil pipe. Can I use offset pan connector (McAlpine) to bridge this discrepancy in heights.

Dont think this will work. From reading the post it looks like the toilet spiggot is below the soil pipe.
