Fixing skirtings to strawboard plaster

hi does anyone know what the best fixing is for fitting skirtings onto a straw board wall. I've done the other walls easy but I am worried the flex of the mdf skirting won't pull Into the strawboard wall. I'm obviously going to use no more nails as well. Are plasterboard fixings the best idea to initially pin it. I don't have a nail gun and do not intend to borrow/hire/ buy one.

Best thing for sticking MDF skirting is low modulus silicone the seal up with decorators caulk
