Hi everyone.

advice required please!

is it ok to hang floor joists as shown in the attached image?

Reason for asking:

I am raising the roof on a section of my bungalow and putting rooms upstairs.

My engineer has specified a 254x146x37 UB to pass over the existing structure and pick up the new upstairs floor foists and the upper walls.

The steel cannot go as low as I would have hoped, so my idea is to hand the floor joists as I have shown in my image.

Is this acceptable?

any tips on how to fix it all up?

Floor joists are 175x47 c24 and will be centred at 400mm by the way.

if anyone has any pictures of their own similar solutions, I’d love to see them.

thanks
