Hello :D

My Focus has recently started making a subtle knocking noise, this was first noticed at high speed on the motorway. It seems to vary, possibly less (or less noticeable) at low speeds. It seems to be coming from the rear end. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply, but it's not that :(
It sounds more like it's wheel related, i.e. related to the wheel speed

Remember how the other day you reversed around that corner rather quickly? Well the little old lady thats stuck to your bumper has decided she wants to get off now and is trying to gain your attention.
Or perhaps its a skateboarder trying to get you to slow down as they are struggling to hold on? :D

Have you checked out the rear suspension, the bits n bobs in the back, that the bumper is secure, the mud flaps etc.

Is it on any particular side?
Does it occur at any particular speed?

I take it that there is no wobbling/vibration of the steering wheel etc when this occurs?

Bolt, nail, or stone stuck in tyre tread??
Wheel balance weight hanging off??

A shock absorber on it's way out?

I did hear a story of a call to the police about a woman driving round with her boot open, and a man's legs sticking out of it.

Turned out it was her husband in the boot. He was trying to identify a mysterious rattle as she drove the car.
