On my 94 escort the heater blower wasn't working,I thought blower fan but after getting one from scrapper found mine was ok. Try running couple cables to blower fan from battery and see if working, unlike me who paid £25 and have a blower in the garage. If its running and as you say fuse ok id agree and say fuse box. I got advice on how to rewire new line with in line fuse to blower/control and alls fine now. happy to send on info if your fuse box is duffo

thanks for your help, but excuse my ignorance, but if the fuse bix was faulty, would it mean other things running off the electrics (washers / wipers - blah blah, woul;d not work also

Its just the blower not working everything else is ok?

thanks

Hey no worries I thought the same and thats why i went bought 2nd hand blower unit. But in my case it was only the blower that didnt run. I took fuse box out, guy at scrap yard said and quoted me load of number of fuse box's that are known not to be as reliable as others and yeah mine was one. You can like me open the box and try to see if you can locate fault but to be honest its a job and a half tracing around in there. Like I said before try couple wires from battery to blower motor see if cranks up if do id say fuse box. I ran new wire to blower and fuse box with inline fuse.

I did have problem with rear wash/wipe fuse blowing but that was on the wiper switch.

Hope it helps

Just quick line Im taking it for granted you know where the blower motor is, mine which is 94 escort was under the shielding at back by bulk head. Bit of a fiddle to get the trim out the way don't you just love that cardboard trim. you can find the motor in the middle easy to get at then.

Good luck

Hi
Thanks very much for all your advice. Well onn Saturday i managed to get the blower off. What a job and yes a fiddly job getting all the trim out of the way. seems blower is ok (bought another from the scrappy and fited but still blower not working)

So i have now taken the fuse box out and will be visiting scrappy again today and try with another fuse box.

Fingers crossed all this will work, otherwise a lot of expense and no result!!

I let you know how i get on

thanks again

Tony

Tried replacement box from scrappy fuse box not at fault, so now confused????

anyone got any ideas? :?:

Hi Tony
If you have had the blower motor working by feeding direct from the battery then I think your problem is with the switch or the wiring,I should start again by checking for power from......

1) Ignition switch to blower switch

2) Blower switch to blower motor

If you have power at the motor, the fault will be on the earth side of things.(try an earth wire direct from the battery to the blower motor)

;)

The amount of fuseboxes that go down
i would not be at all suprised if the new one was faulty.See if you have ignition live at switch.

this could be possible but the fact that its only the heating blower that doesnt work again with the new fuse box fitted says ts not likely to be the box... i may be wrong.. but thanks again for your advice

i havent checked the switch to the blower.. a job to do at weekend.. hopefully this will be the prob!!!???

Just ti throw another spanner in the works i was told to make sure you had same numer fuse box as differnt model numbers I think wont work.

thanks, i did check that and made sure they had the same last three letters... thanks very much for your advice, appreciated

Tony

Did you get your blower working?I seem to think that there is a resister located somewhere relating to the fan switch ,check in a manual

changed the switch today.....still not working!!!!!... where would i find the resister?
