Family resemblance!
The Mondeo is actually a very good car indeed......wouldn't know about the Aston!

This isn't the only time that a prestige model could be mistaken for a more everyday car. I've always thought that the Jag XF bears a strong resemblance to the Vauxhall Insignia, especially when viewed from the side. The shape and outline of the side windows is very similar.

Very nice, I'll take one of each! :)
I wonder what real world difference you would find driving the two on our overcrowded and restricted roads, apart from the size of the wallet dent.

Which one? The Aston? :)
I'll bet that Ford's a beast though with a 1.0 litre engine in it!
My point was that all modern cars of a similar type (ie 4 door saloons etc.) "look alike" anyway. Or at least they do to me.

Well it is claimed to be 120 PS, however I'd imagine with a boot full of luggage and 4 passengers, it would struggle with a hill!

Haven't driven a really modern Ford, last one was a Sierra 2.0 litre we had. Nice car, I liked it. In the past though Ford had a reputation for the smaller engine options feeling a bit, shall we say, underwhelming? The bigger lumps always seemed to give decent performance with little real world difference in mpg.
So I'll have the 2 litre petrol one please. 240 PS.

Funny, but I don't see the 1 litre being offered as an option with the Aston. . . :)

Auto Express mag. reckon the 1.0 Mondy does 55 mpg. However, driving the car at a reasonably brisk pace, but not racing, saw them struggling to better 33 mpg in the real world.

Personally, I hate small, undersized, revvy engines that you need to keep on song to make any progress. Much rather have a big lump that's just ticking over than something that's straining itself just to keep up with everyone else. Straight six, minimum - ideally a V. (y)

Definitely need plenty of gears in the 1L
But its the way forward, back in the day they had big 5L 6 in line's, with two speed transmission, granted that's a while ago.
Back not that long ago, 1.9 was the common diesel size, now its more like 1.4L or 1.2L
But its all good, if they only made them more friendly when they have a problem, less expensive to find out the cure.
