Fred's wife was on the local telly news speaking about Fred's funeral arrangements. She said it was his wishes for his funeral cortege to be led by his steam engine towing a flat back truck with Fred's coffin thereon.

The following tribute was in the Manchester Evening News(MEN) last night.

Tell you what, he was a tough 'un !! I saw his very first docu. carrying ladders up the outside of stack, fixing them, then scaffolding out on 'skyhooks' .... He could stand on two planks, steadier than most on the pavement. ... Then shift everything down a level .. again and again.

I see a guy from the states had dropped a line, because his firm demolishes chimneys in the same manner. ... Simple but effective, carve out the base, propping with timber, then burn the props away !! Excellent !!

Nice to see him get his wishes and travel behind his steam engine. Apparently he organised the funeral himself, according to the local telly news.
