free vets? or "where do you take a dying cat?"

Pet insurance won't normally cover any injuries within the first 14 days of the policy.

Pre-existing conditions will not be covered (one of my dogs was only covered for three legs cos he pulled a muscle on one leg before we got the policy!!!!)

Excesses on pet insurance can be horrific - I actually ended up cancelling our pet insurance (two dogs - it was costing a lot) and opening a savings account for them and putting money into that every month.

You have to watch some policies - some will only cover up to a certain amount for treatment whilst others will do "whole of life" - which means, say your pet became diabetic - some policies will only cover treatment up to say £4000 whilst others will cover that condition for the whole life of the animal.

I'm not sure how it works for changing insurance companies - because if your pet gets treatment for a condition and then you decide to change companies - does that condition then become a pre-existing condition and it won't be covere?????

Funeral costs are normally covered and some policies will cover the cost of advertising etc for a lost pet, alternative therapies, specialist diets, etc.

As in most things, there are different levels of insurances that are offered.
Pays your money takes your choice.
But as far as swapping insurances over, I can't see it, as the history of the animal is taken in to consideration.
I assume you either cancel and re-insure or the terms are until death, the policy will expire(much like the kitty) and then a new insurance, for nice new fit and healthy kitty.
