Frigidaire fridge only

My frigidaire R1581 has stopped working. Its 14 years old . How can i test the thermostat. Is it possible to get a thermostat reasonably priced, or should i throw it away and replace it completely.

cheers for that. fridge is 14 years old. is there any way i can chech to ensure thermo is problem before buy new one. Could probably get second hand fridge for £28. Woudnt want to buy thermo if not the problem.

short the two wires on the stat it will over ride compresser and start cooling in about a hr.do not short the earth wire in the stat
