Will women ever understand the importance of digging big holes on beaches? For days me and my bro dug, with my father's encouragement. Yet my mum and my sister just occasionally had a look over the edge.

Really wish there was a way around the hole flooding out at the bottom though... perhaps you could use an inflatable lilo as some kind of pressurised caisson? Like they used for building the Brooklyn Bridge.

What I find most disturbing about this picture is you appear to be restraining your son from leaving a dirty great scarey hole that his father has dug on his own...

I would agree with you, but my eagle eyes are telling me otherwise. This picture was in fact taken in cold weather:

Exhibit A) the clouds in the sky.
Exhibit B) the people in winter coats in the background
Exhibit C) the fact that despite his extra padding, Simon still needs to wear a long-sleeved shirt.

Now, who on earth would be standing around with their shirt off in this weather? I'll tell you: a crew of navvies who've just dug a dirty great hole in the ground.

I put it to you, sir, that Simon is in fact 12 feet tall, and the chap standing next to him is in fact a fully-grown man from a navvy-crew, digging the foundations for a new pier to rival the one in the background. They employ Simon as a spark, because his freakish height allows him to wire up pylons and lamp-posts whilst standing on the ground.

ADMIT IT!!!

I suppose you could line the walls with the lilo, then use rubber rings as formers to prevent the lilo from distorting from lateral pressure, but would have to look into the figures for stress loading and take core samples for sand density and saturation levels...

Yes, and I've just noticed, it looks like he's crying! It was actually a bright day, but a little windy.

The really funny thing about that pic was that I had cut my toe (don't know how) but you know how toes bleed like bu**ery?

The water in the bottom was fast going pink, but Julie insisted on taking a piccy! Women!

I spent my whole summers in North Cornwall (Padstow, Polzeath, Rock) digging holes as deep as I could, but that one is my deepest. PROUD!!!!


Filled it in again, too as I didn't want anyone to fall in it.

Fortunately my mate sent me a CD of his wedding pictures yesterday. Not a naked picture , but it'll have to do:

I am the one in the blue dress Unfortunately due to the fact I had to scale down and recode the picture using MS Paint, the quality has suffered to the extent it looks like I have no eyes. I assure you the bridesmaid was rather attractive in real life too. Unfortunately, taken, like every other girl at the wedding bar the one whose brother I am a friend of. Which is a shame because I didn't get to impress any ladies looking smart in a wedding suit.

I have since chosen to grow more socially-acceptable hair since then. I love the fact that I get served first in pubs all the time now, but it would be nice if people looked me in the eye from time to time!
