NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but you could get another 3 amp fuse from the table light you dont use

You can buy packs of 4 cartridge fuses 13amp or 5 amp or 3 amp from larger Sainsbury's or Tescos, for 49pence for 4 of them (Masterplug CE/BS 1362 Quality brand!), so it's worth your while stocking up with them.

You should have seen the post that was here last night! Somebody called ***** was amazed that nobody had suggested .............................! Strangely enough he didn't seem to be joking.

Dozy, heres what was suggested.

The contents of this post are intended for humours purposes only. putting this into practice is extremely dangerous.

The nameless poster was suggesting that all fuses be removed from plugs and silver paper installed instead. He said he has done this with every plug in his own house. He also helpfully advised us that this procedure was also highly effective for use in fuse boards. However he was perplexed as to why the silver paper turned black when fitted to the shower and cooker fuse holders. He finished by advising us of a solution to this problem. Smearing either oil or fairy liquid on the paper beforehand. "But never water :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: ever"

Reminds me when my Dad bought a 1910 house back in 82 (you know what I mean!!!)

The imm htr was wired into a plug and socket and in place of the fuse was a sawn off 6" nail!!!!!!

**** me!!!!!

Trust me I've started something, haven't I by asking a silly question.

I was working on a client house last week and their son's (7yrs) was playing with the scalextric car.I've found he has put the bare wire into the wall socket and jammed it in with another plug from the table lamp to hold the wire in as they wasn't any spare plug. His dad has taught him how to do this,I have now put a plug on for him.
How do I handle this ? do I report him or mind me own business ?

I would speak to the father about the serious and dangerous issues involved, the question is who do you report it to anyway.

But if you can go further anonymously, I would personally.......The father sounds like a nut case .

i do not think it is a case of the father being a nut case just ignorant of the dangers of what can and does happen.

I suggest you could say "the best way to prevent an accident is before it happens"
