I’m renovating and combining a toilet and bathroom. Both rooms are down to bare walls, giving me the opportunity to improve the electrics, could you advise on the following.
· On a 2 gang light switch there is a supply in to the first common and a switched live out. From this common there is a link to the second common and a second switched live out. Is linking the commons acceptable?
· The lighting circuit doesn’t have any earths. I would like to install an earth in case a future fitting requires it. Should it be 1.5 cable 6491x ?
· I want to install a fused RCD connection unit for a spar bath. I can fit it as a spur or part of the ring as the cables are accessible but does it matter which way?

thanks & regards

1: yes. often done, just make sure that the both neutrals from the lights are on the same circuit.

2: possibly time for a re-wire.

3: the spur can be fitted on the ring. since its an RCD type, you wont have to worry about RCD protecting the ring. altho if the ring is RCD protected, the ring may trip aswell as the spur
