Any suggestions please for a decent long-lasting on-line brand for the above . The current unbranded ones died after 10 years.

Of the current two, one is blackened but the other seems unmarked and no visible breaks. Should it still light if the other fails ?

Since quartz are being replaced and LED units all seem to be CE (Chinese Export) it does not help selecting a well known make, with the low voltage version G9 I found all local sourced were rubbish and the internet one broke UK trading laws but worked A1.

With extra low voltage the main problem is the voltage dropper, a wire wound transformer has very little to go wrong and does not care if load zero to max. But electronic often have a lower as well as upper limit.

The idea is the tungsten will not adhear to the quartz as too hot, so returns to the tungsten filament, running cool as with dimmer switch reduces their life.

But in main open page and stick in a pin, no one can say how good they are.
