Hi

I know my title seems misleading...

I have a outbuilding garage which i wanted to remove. it has asbestos.

So i am in process of removing it.

One issue i have is, once its removed my garden will be accessible from the rear as there is a access road at back.

In long run i want to install a wide garage but thats later on after year or so.

But to save costs, is it possible to, install a blocked wall on sides and shutter in middle? Then come next year or when i can install the other 3 sides and make it to a garage?

The only obstacle i have is the shutter. I can rest the shutter on the blocks, but above the shutter there will be no roof or anything, it will be open. is something like this possible?

By shutter, you mean a blocked aperture where your garage door will be? The construction is likely to be very weak. I would say that you will need 225mm wide blocks each side of the "shutter" at least 1m long with a decent lintel bolted into the top of them. Even so a good gust of wind will push it over.

or do you mean a roller shutter? Steel ones are extremely heavy, and the mechanism needs protection from the weather or it will rust. I wouldn't want to be near one if the portal collapsed.

The shutter will need to be protected from rain, and a single wall may be susceptible to being blown over without any buttressing support at the corners. If you can, return the corners and rack them back to the top of the wall. Otherwise, rethink your plan.

Thanks for your help, it was going to be roller shutter

I think i will have a think

Also is there a website where i can feed how many blocks ill need and it tells me how much sand and cement etc ill need to buy?

Yes your plan is doable- as mentioned you'll need to have returns on the back wall to give it any stability (you might as well do the foundations for the whole garage while you're at it) and you'll have to protect the roller shutter mech at the top from the elements. Which can be done (if its only for a year or so) with plywood and DPM.
