Personally, and I don't know what others think, but I would install some joists across the garage fixed to the bottom of the rafters to prevent potential roof spread, which looks to me like a risk. That's a shallow pitch roof and the outward forces are therefore going to be considerable when the roof is loaded. I don't think those short collars bolted high up are going to help much. I'm not a SE, but have a technical background, and it doesn't look right as is to me.

I'm not 100% sure, I've been assured its fine. there have been no signs during or after fitting tiles of any movement although I appreciate snow and wind could present significant loading. I may put some cross beams in at some point

If you are going to put them in then it will be either before you get problems or after. "At some point" is point-less really.

If you dont think you need them dont put them in. If you want to take a cautionary approach put them in now.

Roof now finished and door and window mostly in

Just need to wait for warmer weather to foam and silicon in the door and window.

For now I can move onto the first fix wiring whilst i wait for the garage door to arrive.

The door was Wickes and the window was b&q both were cheapest I could find anywhere. Especially with trade pro at Wickes. Not the quickest delivery on either I think approx a month.

They are both standard sizes and the holes were made to match as made to measure was too expensive.

Door was £477 and window £142.50

If they are for a build not yet started you might be able to save costs by finding s/h ones or cancelled order at a fabricator and make the openings to fit.

So now we have a door

Will need to attack the unlevel floor with a grinder to get the door to seal all the away across. little bit of light showing in the middle

Fence modified and refitted

Will probably end up replacing the very weathered fence panel once i get a few off cuts of decent timber

Hi noseall,

This was to give 2.4m high walls internally after the roof trusses are overboarded with 50mm PIR and 12.5mm plasterboard. Also it was required to clear the topbox on the roller door.

It also gives sufficient room for a mezzanine storage area over the store room
