Garage Roof - Condensation

My garage roof (pitched roof with felt and tiles) has a lot of condensation which is now dripping. I have a freezer, washing machine and a tumble drier in the garage, but the tumble drier is vented outside.

The felt has seen better days and parts have fallen down, but most of it is still up and the roof tiles are keeping the rain out.

Most of the time the back door is open, and the main door has large gaps around it, so there is plenty of ventilation.

I am thinking to convert the roof to a cold roof construction (see attached image), but I am not sure if this is sensible, or if it might cause more problems.

I keep mostly standard garage bits in there, but I also have a telescope and some electronics which I am worried are going to get ruined by the damp.

Could anyone help if possible please?

Sounds to me like you are keeping habitable style objects in a non-habitable space. In fact, utility rooms and kitchens ask a wee bit more from the builder, in respect to Building Reg's.
At the moment, you are asking a lot from a garage. The issue with improving piecemeal means the problems shift elsewhere.

That is a good observation, and I think you might be right. There is quite a lot of stuff in the garage, however it is being used for storage so things are in plastic tubs with lids.

I think I understand what you mean, I guess if I insulate the roof, the single skin wall and main (metal) door is still going to cause dampness.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I could do to improve the situation? As a first step, I have started closing the garage doors to ensure the moist air from the tumble drier is not drawn back into the garage.

Thanks very much.

Could I suggest that adding some bags of dry rice, in the boxes will help keep the items dry? Replace the bags regularly, by drying the rice back out in the oven.
