I want a power supply to my decking area, at least a double socket, I have the correct cable already.I think it would be easier to connect from the gararge. Is it a case of connecting a junction box to the existing power supply in the garage?
Please help.....

In a word NO

It is not a case of 2.5 mm² twin and earth spured from an existing ciruit to a socket on the patio.

Sockets will need to be the correct type for outdoor use. Weather proof

Is the cable the correct size and type for the length and method of installation and protection from damage.

How is the garage supply earthed and protected.

And this is external so Part P of the Building regulations apply.

Don't you just hate "That depends" answers? :(

There's not enough info to answer you. Whether or not you can rig up a power supply from your garage depends on how and what has been done to power your garage in the first place. In deciding whether you have the correct cable you need to apply a number of factors from the regulations that you may not realise, so if you can supply the following info someone here will be able to advise.

Where does the power supply to the garage originate? What cable is used from origin to garage and how long is that cable? What protective device is there at the origin? What does that cable connect to in the garage? What is powered in the garage from that cable? How far is it from the garage to your decking? How do you propose to install the cable between the two? What does "at least a double socket" mean you actually want to do?

I only want to run a water feature and perhaps the odd I-Station on sunny days. The decking is 10m away and the cable I have is armoured and I got it from a sparky i know.I think i might have to bite the bullet and pay for someone to sort it for me. Electrics arent really 'my thing'm obviously.....
Thanks anyway,
Ian

Perhaps using information from the wiki on this site and working with the electrician you know you can do the majority of the work yourself.

The biggest hurdle is the Part P inspection and certification of the installation.
