Garden Revamp

I am currently re-gutting my garden. I have layed a decking area, and put a pergola up. What would be the best plant to grow up the pergola? Also I want a fairly maintenance free garden. What plants are best for this. Would like variety of colours asswell.

Do you not know grapevines? I look after two which are very successful and attractive. You won't make a grand cru but then it's cheap enough down the supermarkets!

Chilean potato plant, its an evergreen climber, lots of mauve flowers.
