Hi - noticed a gas smell in the cupboard with the meter. Called national grid who used a sniffer and confirmed leak. They then capped the supply and told me to call in a Gas Safe plumber. My plumber has checked the pipework on the house side of the meter and there is no pressure drop. The gas smell clears with the window open but still builds up with it closed (doesn't matter if the supply valve is open or closed).

Do I call national grid again and tell them it looks like it is their pipework that is the problem? Are they responsible for repair?

Thanks

Thanks they are back today and are replacing the pipe to the mains. Called a live insertion as they are basically using the old pipe as a sleeve.

Like DIY said, Tell national grid you want money off them for giving you incorrect infomation, and having to pay for a Gas Safe installer to check your system.
