glad to see some people don't people don't understand the regulations.

check your your core 1 to 5 manual regarding pipework installation in wall chases. It is stated quite clearly the accepted forms. The ones i gave are acceptable. The reason for conduit is if the wall is to be dot and dabbed afterwards and then there could be pockets of space which could fill with gas if there was a leak.

am i right in thinking that i just have to wrap the pipe in electrical insulating tape?

I must admit I can see the logic. Wrap insulation tape around the pipe and it could be seen as “separated”. Doubt if it would pas an IR test though.
3 layers however…… in extra rude?
