Gay Weddings

It's a politically incorrect term of phrase used to mean "breaking one's side of a deal". Bill Clinton used it once and had to apologise to all Welsh Americans :D

Following the rule of all racial slurs, I'm part Welsh so I'm allowed to say it ;)

(not sure about the origin though, could be nothing to do with Wales)

Yeah I thought that is what it meant; you are only the second person ever I have heard use it.

So would you use other 'politically incorrect' racial words then? I won't list them, you know what I mean.

I have no connections with Cymru (apart from I used to work there. Oh yeah and I once 'knew' a girl at university from there. And I like Goldie Lookin' Chain and The Manic Street Preachers. That's it, I think. Cheese on toast is OK too).

In fact, the word 'Wales' means 'disparingly foreign' so is in fact a racial word in itself. 'Woolloon' and 'Valsch' (Dutch I think - woodyoulike?) are European equivalents/derivatives of this.

I prefer 'Cymru', as I say 'Cornwall' and 'Cumberland/Cumbria' which come from the same origin.

I doubt it has anything to do with Wales 'cos it's a derivative of Welch, but I couldn't find anything definitive on the matter. Not that I actually care much anyway

True, but I'm not a Janner!

I know "Metten Da" means "Good morning" in Cornish, that's about it.

lol. I heard also that some Mexicans eat Cornish pasties as the Cornish went over there to show them how to mine, and showed them what to eat down there. No doubt they use chili con carne, and er, quesiladas and er, guacamole or something rather than cheap meat, overcooked root vegetables and too much pepper.

So am I, but still get into trouble using it!!

As you say, it means failing to fulfil an obligation. Also spelt Welch, it is slang, and comes from the 19th C, but is of unknown origin.
